Praise to Allah Who granted us the Month of Ramadan and promised those who fast with mercy and forgiveness. He revealed the good news that the God-fearing Muslims will inhabit Paradise and will be granted the everlasting happiness.

Let mercy and peace be bestowed upon our Master Muhammad, his pure Family and Companions and those who follow them with utmost goodness until the Day of Judgment.

At the start of this great Month I order myself and my Muslim brothers and sisters to fear Allah, obey Him and worship Him.

Recognize Ramadan
Here is the month of fasting and the school for piety. Allah said in sooratul Baqarah, 183:
﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ﴾
In this verse Allah addressed the believers that fasting has been obligated upon them like it has been obligated upon Muslims before them and it is a way of piety.

How blessed we are for witnessing the Honorable Month of Ramadan.  We ask Allah the Merciful and Generous to make us among the winners by Ramadan's end; and help us perform the obedience and take advantages of the hours by performing the acts of worship. We also ask Allah, the Glorified, to raise us to the highest levels and ranks and to forgive all our sins and bad deeds.
It is the right thing for the Muslim to rejoice by Ramadan's arrival, to enjoy its breeze and be delighted by its giving granted by Allah.
Why not and the whole world became lit by the coming of Qur'an the book of guidance and illumination and the clear way showing the goodness.
Why not and the Prophet, mercy and peace upon him, used to offer the good tidings to his Companions and Nation because of the coming of Ramadan.
The Prophet, mercy and peace upon him, used to clarify and propagate to Muslims the merits of Ramadan for strengthening the Muslims and inspiring them to take advantage by doing obedience and worship.
What a loss for the one who does not take advantage of this Noble Month.
It is the Month in which the doors of mercy are opened and devils are put in chains and rewards of the good deeds and rewardable acts are multiplied many times.
Ibn `Abbas related that the Prophet, mercy and peace upon him, said:
Paradise is decorated from year to year for the Month of Ramadan. Once Ramadan starts Paradise would say O Allah grant us in this Month from among your slaves as inhabitants. (atTabaraaniyy in alAwsat).
People Types
My Brothers and Sisters,
There are three types of people who fast Ramadan:
One group fast out of habit and spend time in eating and drinking and staying up at night engaged in various entertainments. As for performing worship, there is none done whilst fearing Allah, no good manners are acquired and no repentance is sought to dismiss the sins and ask Allah for forgiveness.
Another type fasts Ramadan out of it being a worship which one performs but without them being mindful of acquiring Ramadan's virtues, looking to abide by its mannerisms or disciplining oneself to face its hardships; no tongue is protected, no gaze is lowered and no organs are prevented from falling in the unlawful. The person's state in Ramadan is like his/her state before. There is no difference except that one is refraining from what breaks the fast.
The third type are those who would be looking for Ramadan to worship Allah by fasting its days seeking Allah's reward and straightening themselves seeking high morality;
•   Their hearts are delighted by Imaan, their inner selves are by dhikr pleasant and their tongues are busy thanking Allah.
•   Their hearts are afraid of the torture and their organs have submitted because of watching their behavior.
•   You find one of them asking Allah forgiveness for one's slip and another seeking relief from one's strain and sorrow and a third is hoping for Allah's good fortunes.
•   They are people who have abided by Allah's Book through reciting and applying it.
•   They fill the Mosques where Allah is worshipped by praying and repenting to Him.
•   They treat the Muslims by kindness, Ihsaan, pardon and overlooking their defects.
•   They take care of Muslims by tying the bond and offering enormous goodness.
•   They recognize the bad doings they have and desert them and reform their bad traits.
•   They dived into their Month investing in its minutes before its hours.
•   They cleverly worked hard to acquire the rank of righteousness.
Allah conveyed in sooratul Baqarah, 197:
﴿وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى وَاتَّقُونِ يَا أُولِي الاَلْبَاب﴾
Seek the supply and the best of it is piety and fear Allah you those with sound minds
Ihsaan
My Brothers and Sisters,
The Month of Ramadan is the month of patience and Ihsaan. Allah informed in soortaun Nahl, 90:
﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ﴾
Allah orders to abide by equity, justice and Ihsaan and to support the kinship. He orders to refrain from enormous doings, blasphemy and aggression.
Ihsaan is to give people who have right their rights and add on the top of the obligated right out of one's generosity because the reward for Ihsaan is Ihsaan and the favor is returned by a better favor.
The upright Islamic rules urge the Muslim to treat others with Ihsaan even the ones who have mistreated you.
Sahlut Tusturiyy
It is narrated that Sahlut Tusturiyy had a Majusiyy neighbor whose house's najas-filth started overflowing into Sahl's house. Sahl continued for some time cleaning the najas-filth accumulated in his house until he became sick.
-   Sahl called the Majusiyy and said that he fears that his heirs will not tolerate that harm as he used to and then they and Majusiyy would complain to the judge and get in dispute.
The Masjusiyy was surprised from Sahl's patience and his tolerance of this harm.
-   He said you have been helping me all this long period and I am following my religion!
The Majusiyy stretched his hand to Sahl and said I bear witness that no one is god except Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger. Then Sahl died.
Benefits
Ramadan is a chance to recharge ourselves by sincerity, truthfulness, patience, gratification, forgiveness, treating others well and other good morals which Islam brought.
From among the benefits of fasting are it encourages the Muslim to put relentless effort to participate in fulfilling the needs of the poor and the deprived.
Ramadan is a season for resolving issue and overcoming disputes and quarrels among the believers.
It is an occasion to intensify obeying the parents, tying the kinship and offering Ihsaan to the neighbors.
Advices for this Life
My Brothers,
The one who is afraid of the threat, verily the things that are far from him will become close to him.
The one who has long hope keeps anticipating things to happen but his work will be weak. Whatever is assigned to come will definitely come.
Allah did not create us for no reason and He will not leave us without judgment.
Furnish your supply from your life for the Hereafter before it is too late.
How many of those who trusted this life were then destroyed by it, how many trusted it but it devastated them, how many were proud but it cheated them and became poor and how many were caring of others but it disappointed him.
The age in this life is short and its existence is going to annihilation, its pleasure will turn to sorrow, its plentiful will turn to scarcity, its health is to sickness and its richness is to poverty.
Its abode is deceitful, its days betray and it orders its people to do the evil.
Renew the Call
Let us renew the call in Ramadan to follow the way of Ihsaan and to remain steadfast on obeying Allah by having patience on inflictions and accepting what Allah willed. This happens by refraining from objecting to Allah, because Allah is the Owner of the dominion. We and what we own are owned by Allah and Allah does in his dominion what He willed.
Allah informed in soortuz Zumar, 10:
﴿إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ﴾
The patient believers are given their reward abundantly.
Allah is not benefited from obedience and is not harmed by disobedience.
O Allah we ask you to grant us from your vast endowments and great forgiveness and to put us among your patient and rewarding servants.
Yaa Arhamal Raahimeen. Yaa Arhamal Raahimeen.
May you enjoy the yearly coming occasions while having goodness.
May Allah bring to all of us the blessed Month of Ramadan in the years to come and grant us forthrightness and well-being.
Asslaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh
