Shaving the beard or mustache.. ?

It's not explicitly unlawful (haram) for the person to shave his beard or shave his mustache.

It's an Islamic recommendation for one to grow his beard and follow alsunna, teachings and doings of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). The one who leaves alsunna, which are the optional doings of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) is not sinful, which means he will not be accounted for not doing it. But if one did this deed, and grew his beard and mustache for the sake of following alsunna of Prophet Muhammad, in Islam one gets reward by that.

There are some scholars that considered it haram to shave the beard, but the majority doesn't say so.

Note: We advise Muslims brothers to grow the beard for the sake of Allah. Also know that it's not haram also to fix the beard's appearance and length. Some people have exaggerated about this matter and similar simple matters like this, be aware may Allah have mercy upon you.

Allah knows best.
