MUHAMMAD ALSHAREEF - Founder




"Muhammad Alshareef was born in 1975 and raised in Canada. In his youth, he memorized the Quran and later graduated with an Islamic Law degree from the ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF MADINAH, class of 1999. He is the founder of AlMaghrib Institute through which he teaches university-level seminars on Islam. YASIR QADHI - Director




"Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, Texas and completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF MADINAH. After completing a diploma in Arabic, he graduated with a B.A. from the College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences. Thereafter, he completed a M.A. in Islamic Theology from the College of Dawah...Yasir Qadhi is currently pursuing his doctorate... At AlMaghrib Instiute he teaches the Light of Guidance and the Light Upon Light courses, which focus on aqeedah."

Qadhi has accused great Sunni scholars, such Shaykh Muhammad ibn Alawi al-Malik, of polytheism (shirk).

Qadhi has slyly produced a contradictory position on Mawlid without many noticing.

Qadhi has accused the great and mesmerizing al-Burdah poem of shirk even though reputable scholars from the four schools of Sunni jurisprudence have accepted it as a beautiful and mesmerizing poem.

Qadhi has casted doubts and misgivings on followers of the Ash'ari creed as representatives of orthodox Sunni Islam.

Qadhi has openly praised controversial so-called scholars (e.g. Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, Muhammad ibn Abdal-Wahhab, etc.) who were refuted by Ahl al-Sunna wa'al Jama'ah.

Qadhi has called Shaykh Salman al-Oudah his "mentor" even though he considers it legitimate to kill civilians in Jerusalem.

Qadhi has said this of the late Wahhabi scholar Ibn Jibreen — an open supporter of Osama bin Laden – when he passed away: "Truly with the death of the Shaykh we have lost the last of the great giants of our era" (see below for more details).

This is only a sampling of Yasir Qadhi's Wahhabi-Salafi propaganda that clashes with what the true Sunnis have understood and believed...



WALEED BASYOUNI - Instructor




"...Shaykh Waleed Basyouni graduated with a Bachelors in Islamic Sciences from AL-IMAM MUHAMMAD UNIVERSITY (a university named after the founder of Wahabism, Ibn Abdul Wahab), Kingdom of Saudia Arabia; did his Masters in Islamic Theology, World Religions and Modern Religious Sects from Al-Imam Muhammad University...Shaykh Waleed is the latest addition to AlMaghrib Institute's faculty of instructors..."



The profile of Waleed Basyouni in the Al-Maghrib Institute website states, "He studied under great scholars time such as Shaykh Ibn Baz, Abdul-Razzaq Afify and others." The late Ibn Baz was the former grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia whose extremism, anthropomorphism, and bigotry are well documented. One of his strange fatawa was that the earth was flat and disk-shaped and that the sun revolved around the earth (!). This was stated in his al-Adillat al-Naqliyya wal-Hissiyya `ala Jarayn al-Shamsi wa-Sukuni al-Ard ("The Transmitted and Sensory Proofs of the Rotation of the Sun and Stillness of the Earth"). Waleed Basyouni also supported the late Wahhabi scholar named Ibn Jibreen.

EXAMPLES OF HOW AL-MAGHRIB INSTITUTE CONTRADICTS SUNNI ISLAM



The following explains how Wahhabi Islam as taught by the al-Maghrib Institute differs from the orthodox Sunni understanding of the issues stated below:



(1) BID'AH HASANA: – A good innovation – Al-Maghrib teaches that this does not exist even though Sunnis have divided innovations into praiseworthy and blameworthy categories.



(2) MAWLID – Al-Maghrib Institute teaches that commemorating the birth of our beloved Prophet (peace & blessings be upon him) is a blameworthy innovation that nobody should participate in. They say this without mentioning that the vast majority of Sunni scholars allow it.



(3) SHIRK – Accusations of Shirk (polytheism) are applied to the majority (Sunni) Ahl al-Sunnah scholars and individuals, constantly. They actually have to teach people not to call others Ahl-al Bid'ah and Ahl al-Shirk because it was getting so out-of-hand and obvious as to what they were doing in their classes. While they teach (now) not to declare it openly, they teach the students to believe it in their heart. Genuine Sunnis have been taught that accusations of shirk, kufr, and bid'ah against fellow Muslims are serious crimes.



(4) MADHAHIB – Al-Maghrib Institute says you don't have to follow a Madhab (a school of Sunni jurisprudence: Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali), in contradiction to the understanding of most Muslims in Islam's history. Al-Maghrib Institute filters the Madhabs for you and gives you the "Quran and Sunnah" for any fiqh question even when proper scholarship is required to understand the two noble Islamic Sources.



(5) `AQEEDAH – On matters of Islamic creed, Al-Maghrib Institute teaches Muhammad ibn Abdal-Wahhab's "Kitab al-Tawheed" that is replete with anti-Sunni interpretations and understanding. The Ash'ari and Maturidi understanding of aqeedah that Islam's vast majority follow — and are represented as those who are of Ahl al-Sunna wa'al Jama'ah — are marginalized and sidelined as being unrepresentative of the truth.



(6) HISTORY – Al-Maghrib Institute uses names of traditional Sunni scholars like Imams Abu Hanifah, Shafi'i, etc., cherry-picks from their statements, and attempts to support the Wahhab perspective. This is deception of the masses and abusing the words of our illustrious `ulema. Please see "Salafi Tampering" links on the right side of this blog for specific examples of distortion of Islamic sources. In reality, the Wahhabi understanding contradicts the historical understanding of many issues of fiqh and 'ibadaat that genuine Sunni scholars held through the generations. This means Wahhabis attribute ignorance to our pious forefathers and those who followed them.



(7) PERSONALITIES/SCHOLARS - They emphasize Ibn Taymiyya, Muhammad ibn Abdal- Wahhab, Bilal Phillips, and other pseudo-Sunni scholars who have been refuted time and again by the orthodox Sunni community. Traditional scholars are ignored, accused of reprehensible innovation and polytheism, and are used only selectively and deceptively to support the Wahhabi perspective.

Question: Who are the Extremist Wahhabis?

Answer: Wahhabis are a sect that emerged 250 years ago that follows a deviant man who emerged from a place called Najd, the place where the Prophet said "the tribulations and sedition will occur from there". They oppose the majority of Muslims and declare whomever opposes them as blasphemers and thus promote chaos and killing amongst the nations.

Bismillah, praise be to Allah the of creator everything, the one who has no beginning or ending, and Whom does not resemble his creations and does not need any of his creations, we ask Allah to raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad more and to honor him and his Al and companions. And to unite our ummah ameen.

The mufti of Makkah Ahmad bin Zaini dahlan already authored a book called "The Fitnah of Wahhabis" and he exposed some of what he saw and wittnessed from the wahhabi extreme and terrorist acts and crimes besides their radical beliefs and misguidance in aqeedah.

Islam is a moderate faith that all Prophets followed. Many people throughout the eras try to pervert the religion. Unfortunately, even in Islam we have extremists who distort the real meaning of Islam, among those are the Wahhabis. Wahhabis (falsely Salafis) are a small misguided radical sect that opposes the Muslim majority. They deem Muslims who oppose them as blasphemers and permit bombing, terrorizing and killing them by the name of Islam. We are obligated to warn people from their evil misguidance. Islam is against radical ideologies and disowns extremist groups (like Wahhabis, Hizb al-ikhwan and hizb at-Tahrir extremists) that misuse the name of Islam for misleading purposes and hidden agendas. And for that the schools of these cults ended up producing uncontrolled extremists like "Bin Laden", "Zarqawi" and "Zawahiri" whom are the reason behind all the terrorist attacks in countries like Algeria, Morrocco, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon. And that's the outcome of following the ideologies of Ibn Taymiah, Ibn Abdul-Wahhab and Sayid Qutub that were misguided opinionated extremists opposing Islam.

As part of our Islamic obligation in warning from the evil, we intend in this research to expose some of the deviated teachings of these people with full references to stand as a warning to everyone, especially the Muslim communities and families so that they too warn their children from indulging with such extremist groups as the Wahhabis. In Qur'an Allah said in Surat Al ^Imran, Ayah 11 which means: [You are the best of the nations that were brought to the people commanding the lawful and forbidding the unlawful.] And Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said what means: "If you see my nation fearful of telling he who is unjust, 'You are unjust'--then know the support of Allah is withdrawn from them."

We will post their claims in English and put the reference of their books in Arabic so it's easier to find.



We ask Allah to guide us to what is acceptable, enable us to be always steadfast on the path of the Prophet, and to be always protectors and defenders of the creed of Ahlus-Sunnah that the Prophet brought to the people. And Allah knows best.
